Michale Leon is currently the Judge Advocate for thePat Tillman Memorial VFW Post 40 in Avondale, Arizona. Prior to this he served as the Quarter Master in 2023.
Served on active Duty from 1978 to 1981. Commissioned as a USAR Armor Officer. During Desert Storm served time in FT Huachuca in training the A10 aircraft pilots to identify moving armored vehicles on the ground prior to their deployment to Desert Storm. Throughout his military Reserve career, he has served most of his time as an Armor Officer but also schooled in Transportation where he wasdeployed to Iraq in coordinating transportation and support in establishing the Iraqi police and military forces in 2004-2005.
Decorations, Service Medals Awarded: Bronze Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, The Order of ST Christopher Medal (Transportation Corps), Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge and Combat Action Badge.
Michael has his master’s degree in social work and currently works for the Phoenix VAMC Medical Center housing homeless Veterans. He has two beautiful daughterswho reside in Oklahoma and North Carolina and a total of three grandchildren.
