Bob Wiedower became a member of Pat Tillman Memorial VFW Post 40 in 2025, and supports various programs including leading the effort to find a permanent facility. Bob joined the VFW in 2002 as a Life Member, and became a Gold Legacy Member in 2026.
Bob served in the United States Marine Corps from June 1979 to June 2001 as an Electronic Countermeasures Officer aboard the EA-6B "Prowler" aircraft. Bob earned his VFW eligibility as the Commanding Officer of an EA-6B squadron during combat operations in Iraq.
During his service, Bob earned the Meritorious Service Medal (with two stars), Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with one star), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and numerous other personal and unit awards.
Bob's civilian career spanned 18 years with financial services companies which included developing award-winning veteran hiring and support programs. Bob’s service to the community is extensive; his more than 7,000 volunteer hours includes 25 years on 9 non-profit councils and boards such as the American Red Cross, Fighter Country Foundation, and the USO. In addition to engaging in hands-on activities, Bob provided strategic direction and led fundraising efforts resulting in collecting and distributing nearly $6M towards community needs.
In 2022, in acknowledgement of his service to his country and community, Bob was inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame.
Originally from Phoenix, Bob resides in Goodyear, Arizona with his wife Diana. They have two children, one a Marine Corps F-35 pilot, and 8 grandchildren.
